AEW has a lot going on, and the World Title is always an interesting picture. At Full Gear, that title belt was on the line in a big way.
During the Full Gear 2025 pay-per-view, the AEW World Championship was on the line in a steel cage match. “Hangman” Adam Page put his championship up against Samoa Joe, and fans were more than ready for this match.
The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey was full of fans, and this AEW World Title match capped off a long night of pro wrestling.
This match was brutal, as both competitors used the cage as a weapon throughout the contest. Samoa Joe was busted open in the process, but that didn’t stop him from taking Page to the woodshed.
At one point, Hangman Page hit a Deadeye, but the referee was out, so nobody could count. Then Powerhouse Hobbs ripped the chain off the cage door, and he got in the ring. After getting out of a Coquina Clutch, Hangman Page hit a Buckshot Lariat, but no referee was around.
Suddenly, Hook got in the ring, and he hit Hangman with the belt and revealed an Opps shirt under his jacket. Then Samoa Joe nailed a Muscle Buster and won the AEW World Title.
After that, Swerve Stickland returned, and he destroyed all of The Opps. The show ended with Hangman Page standing beside his old foe, Swerve, as fans cheered on. Samoa Joe may be champion, but the event ended on a high note for the babyfaces.
