Samoa Joe is officially out of action.
During the January 28th episode of AEW Dynamite, announcer Excalibur broke the news that Joe suffered a non-contact injury while training and is not medically cleared to compete. No further details were provided, and AEW has not confirmed a timeline for his return.
Joe has been at the center of the AEW World Title scene since Worlds End, where he defended the championship in a four-way match against MJF, Swerve Strickland, and Hangman Page. MJF ultimately captured the title in that bout, ending Joe’s reign as AEW World Champion.
His most recent match came on the January 12th edition of Dynamite, where he scored a strong win over “Speedball” Mike Bailey.
Now, with Joe on the shelf, AEW’s main event picture could see major shifts in direction.
Ringside News will continue to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available on Samoa Joe’s condition and recovery. We send our best wishes to Joe for a safe and speedy return.
