Samoa Joe may currently be out of action with an injury, but it sounds like his AEW return might not be too far away.

While speaking to Monopoly Events on March 6, 2026, Joe addressed his absence from AEW television and gave a brief update on when fans might see him back in the ring. According to the Samoan Submission Machine, he will be returning to AEW sooner rather than later.

“We’ll be back in AEW sooner rather than later. And aside from that, season three of Twisted Metal is coming soon.”

During the January 28 episode of AEW Dynamite, Excalibur revealed that Joe had suffered a non-contact injury while training and was not medically cleared to compete. AEW did not provide additional details about the injury or a specific timeline for his return.

Joe had been heavily involved in the AEW World Championship scene leading into the injury. At Worlds End, he defended the AEW World Title in a four-way match against MJF, Swerve Strickland, and Hangman Page before MJF ultimately captured the championship.

Joe’s most recent match took place on the January 12 episode of Dynamite, where Joe defeated “Speedball” Mike Bailey. So for now, Samoa Joe remains on the sidelines — but based on his comments, it sounds like fans may not have to wait much longer to see him back in AEW.
