Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo have been part of the AEW family for several years now and they’re proud of their work in the company. However, some fans do wonder if they’ll ever join WWE and now both of them have set the record straight on that matter.
While speaking during a panel at Wrestleverse Fest, Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo were asked if they would ever go back to WWE or join WWE in the future. Sammy explained that they’re under contract with AEW and they are treated well there, so right now they’re fully committed to being part of AEW.
“Well, the thing is, we are contracted to AEW and they, uh, they treat us very, very well and very fine. So we are in AEW and, uh, yeah, yeah.”
Tay Melo stated that she believes the idea of a “war” between companies is silly. For her, it’s all about loving wrestling, no matter if it’s AEW, TNA, Ring of Honor, or anywhere else. She just enjoys being entertained and watching people chase their dreams.
Melo also said the so-called rivalry isn’t really something that exists between the wrestlers themselves. She talked about how AEW has completely changed her life, but also acknowledged WWE’s role in helping her reach this stage. In the end, she’s grateful to both companies and is proud to be representing AEW, which she plans to keep doing.
“I feel like it’s a little silly, just the whole war. I love wrestling, you know? I don’t care if it’s AEW, TNA, Ring of Honor—I don’t care. I love wrestling. I love to be entertained. I love to see everybody doing their best and living their dreams. It is what it is.
I don’t think this whole thing with, like, a war is really in between wrestlers. I love AEW. It’s literally changed my life so much. WWE bringing me to this stage—I’m grateful for both companies. And now we’re representing AEW, which I’m so proud of, and we’re going to continue to do so.”
Tay Melo was granted her release from WWE back in 2020 as part of the COVID-19 budget cuts, as she made it clear she was just not happy in NXT at all. Regardless, Melo and Guevara will be remaining with AEW for the foreseeable future and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
