Sammy Guevara isn’t holding anything back when it comes to MJF—and now he’s taking their long-standing AEW rivalry to a deeply personal level.
During his appearance on Close Up with Renee Paquette in the “Sons of Texas” edition, Guevara dropped a raw, emotionally charged tirade that blurred the line between storyline and real-life hatred.
The conversation began with Renee bringing up MJF and asking Sammy whether he respects the former AEW World Champion. That’s when things turned tense—fast.
“Oh my God. Get out of here with this question. I thought I was done with this guy years ago, right? When we were facing for the world title. I didn’t win the match, but at least I got to get out of dealing with him. And now here we are again.”
Guevara acknowledged their long, bitter history as two of AEW’s original “pillars,” but made it clear that any connection between them is built on pure animosity.
“Man, me and him have gone to battles for years. He’s also an OG. I hate him.”
He then made it even more personal, criticizing MJF’s character inside and outside the ring.
“I absolutely despise this guy. And I despise him—not only with who he is out there, I despise him with who he is back here. He’s a terrible person.”
Then came the mic-drop moment—a vow that cut through the air like a dagger and could redefine their rivalry going forward.
“And another thing I’ll say about Max: you will never, ever beat me again. Ever. I swear on my life, on my daughter’s life—it’s not going to happen. So, be ready for when that day comes.”
Sammy didn’t just call MJF out—he brought real emotion into the ring, swearing on his daughter’s life that MJF will never defeat him again. In wrestling, that kind of line doesn’t come lightly. It’s the type of unscripted intensity that fans remember for years.
Is this real heat between Sammy and Max, or just the best promo of Guevara’s life? Either way, it feels personal now—and AEW fans are watching closely.
