Sami Zayn is officially out of action, and it’s all thanks to Kevin Owens. After suffering a devastating Package Piledriver on Monday Night Raw earlier this month, WWE has confirmed that Zayn is dealing with a serious neck injury and is out indefinitely.

Owens, who blindsided Zayn after his Elimination Chamber qualifying match against CM Punk, made his intentions clear even before the attack. He dropped a fiery video message hours earlier, accusing Zayn of betrayal.

“You just stood there and watched while Cody tried to end my career. Worse, I think he was actually trying to end my life in that Rumble. But you? You did nothing. You’re a horrible friend. You’re a disgusting human being. I’ll never forgive you. Never. But I am gonna make you pay,” Owens declared.

Fast forward a few days, and Zayn is still feeling the effects of that attack—both physically and emotionally. Taking to Twitter, the former Undisputed Tag Team Champion opened up about his condition, admitting that his neck “isn’t doing too well” and that he’s dealing with nerve damage.

“I think the last couple of weeks have been particularly tough just trying to come to terms with everything that’s happened here with Kevin and myself,” Zayn admitted. “It’s almost become a joke how many times Kevin has turned on me, maybe I’ve turned on him, whatever it is, it almost seems like an inevitability in our relationship. But this one was different. I know that, and Kevin I know you know that.”

Zayn didn’t hold back when addressing Owens directly, making it clear that this wasn’t about competition—Owens was trying to take him out for good.

“That wasn’t about trying to get ahead, or sending a message, that was trying to end my career. And for what? Over a wrestling match, over me not helping you win a wrestling match?”

Zayn also fired back at Owens’ claim that he “wasn’t there for him” during the Royal Rumble.

“You didn’t see me sprinting out there with tears in my eyes checking on you as you laid there motionless, bleeding. Me screaming at the doctors, ‘is he okay? Is he going to be okay? Get him some help!’ To me that’s what I thought being there for someone is.”

As for his future, Zayn admitted he doesn’t know when he’ll be cleared to return—but he made one thing perfectly clear:

“The long and short of it is, I don’t know when I’ll be cleared, but when I am, Kevin, me and you are gonna go again, and I’m telling you now, it’s not going to be fun. I’ll see you soon.”

With years of history between them, Owens and Zayn have fought as partners and bitter rivals, but this might be their most personal battle yet.
