Sami Zayn paid a steep price in his war against Kevin Owens this week. The brutal Unsanctioned match left Zayn battered, and things got so bad that he had to be “taken to a hospital” after the show.
Owens and Zayn tore into each other with everything they could get their hands on. The Master Strategist even managed to land a Helluva Kick and drive The Prizefighter onto a barbed wire-wrapped steel chair, but it wasn’t enough. Owens, known for his relentless aggression, turned the tide by delivering two devastating Apron Powerbombs before scoring the pin. Even after securing the win, he wasn’t done. Owens continued his assault on his former best friend, leaving fans and officials stunned.
The attack was so vicious that WWE correspondent Jackie Redmond later confirmed Zayn was no longer in the building. “I tried to get an update on Sami Zayn’s condition, but I’ve been unsuccessful in doing so. What I can tell you is that he’s no longer in the building. He’s been taken to a hospital,” she revealed during the Elimination Chamber Post-Show. She also pointed out that Zayn’s neck was already an issue heading into the fight, which made Owens’ ruthless attack even more concerning.
If it weren’t for Randy Orton showing up, things could have been much worse. Redmond made that clear, saying, “I think we can all agree that this could have been much, much worse for Sami Zayn had Randy Orton not shown up.” The Viper’s return put a stop to Owens’ rampage, but the damage was already done.
Of course, this entire scenario is part of WWE’s ongoing storyline between Zayn and Owens. The intense rivalry has seen them go to war multiple times over the years, and WWE is clearly building up more drama between the former best friends. While Zayn’s trip to the hospital is part of the scripted action, it adds another layer of realism to the feud, making fans wonder what’s next for both men.
