Rob Van Dam didn’t hold back during his latest episode of RVD LIVE, offering a brutally honest take on WWE’s never-ending schedule—and how it nearly broke him.

While talking with co-host Dominic DeAngelo, the WWE Hall of Famer admitted he used to question why WWE had him on every show—because behind the scenes, he was running on fumes. Reflecting on the toll it took on him personally, RVD said:

“I used to when I was on uh every Raw, every SmackDown, every house show, every pay-per-view, I used to say that about myself. I’d say, ‘Why does everybody got to see me every single show, you know, like why not?’ Because I was burned out, you know, that’s part of my story. I got burned out and uh the monotony of just being on the road and just being on that grind got to where I wasn’t enjoying it.”

He also revealed how the pressure to constantly evolve his move set only added to his mental fatigue:

“Even just personally for me, I felt like, man, I mean, they’re going to be—I mean, I felt, you know, like I gotta show them some different moves this week that I didn’t do last week.”

As someone who’s been on both sides of the curtain, RVD didn’t shy away from admitting that even he doesn’t fully understand how WWE keeps up this level of content output:

“There’s so many hours of wrestling on TV every single week. And that was when we were doing two hours of Raw. They didn’t start doing three till after I was gone. And I was like, ‘Holy crap.’ Really? I don’t see it. I don’t know why there’s that much demand, but I guess it’s validated because they keep going in that direction.”

Whether it’s Raw, SmackDown, NXT or premium live events, RVD made it clear that the WWE machine doesn’t slow down—and back then, he was stuck inside it with no brakes.

In an era where wrestlers are more accessible than ever thanks to social media and weekly content, Rob Van Dam’s blunt honesty is a reminder of how grueling the business can be behind the glamor of the ring.
