RVD’s no stranger to controversy, especially after backing Raja Jackson. That’s why it comes as no surprise that RVD has now backed Matt Riddle, following the King of Bro’s controversial remarks about no-showing at a UK charity event.
The WWE Hall of Famer took to Twitter and kept it short and sweet, as he stated that he has Matt Riddle’s back, saying, “So far, I got Matt Riddle’s back. 😆.” He even included a laughing emoji for good measure, knowing the kind of reactions he’d get.
This comes after Matt Riddle came under fire after it was claimed he intentionally no-showed Global Wrestling Kingdom’s debut event. Riddle defended himself and called fans “dumb f****** c****” for “believing that Me Too sh**,” a reference to the lawsuit filed against him by indie wrestler Candy Cartwright during his WWE run.
Due to his remarks, Matt Riddle was ultimately pulled from an upcoming appearance at SiouxperCon. That’s not the end of it either, as Matt Riddle even received death threats over the no-show controversy.
Matt Riddle’s career is once again caught up in controversy, as his comments have cost him bookings and led to tons of backlash. RVD’s choice to support him has upset a lot of fans, and now many are waiting to see if RVD will explain why he stood by Riddle.
Do you think RVD is right to stand by Matt Riddle during this controversy, or should he have stayed silent given the sensitivity of the situation? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
