The speculation surrounding Malakai Black’s WWE comeback is heating up, and now there’s talk that he might be heading straight to SmackDown when he returns.
According to PWNexus, WWE sources believe Black—formerly known as Aleister Black—is expected to land on the blue brand.
“As reported originally by WON, I can also say we’ve heard from those within WWE that it is expected that Malakai Black is headed to the SmackDown brand upon his return,” the report claimed.
That said, it’s far from confirmed. “I still have no clear indication if this will happen before WrestleMania or post-WrestleMania, or if the deal has been signed on the dotted line yet,” the report added.
While it makes sense for Black to be placed on SmackDown, especially with his wife Zelina Vega already on the brand, Ringside News can confirm that most brand assignments typically aren’t discussed until after a contract is finalized. That means this rumor could be premature, but WWE has a long track record of keeping couples on the same roster so it’s very likely that’s where she could land.
For now, Black’s WWE return is still in the “expected” phase—but the SmackDown rumors are already making waves. If he does make the jump back, should he reunite with Vega, go solo, or take on an entirely new direction? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
