Roxanne Perez just revealed what really went down backstage with the Judgment Day after Survivor Series: WarGames — and it had everything to do with John Cena.
Speaking on the Going Ringside podcast, Perez shared an emotional and unexpected behind-the-scenes story about Cena’s post-match mindset. She revealed that he asked every single member of the Judgment Day what they could have done better.
“After our match at Survivor Series, he brought all of us together—everyone who was part of that match—and the first thing he asked was, ‘Okay, what do you guys think we could have done better?’ He was sweating, exhausted, everything. It was just crazy that he was asking us that—what we thought he could have done better.”
When asked if it felt awkward critiquing the 17-time world champ, Roxanne admitted she was caught off guard at first—but it ultimately gave her a powerful lesson about growth.
“Um, maybe a little bit—but honestly, it was mostly inspiring. I feel like it really shows that you can learn from anybody, and no one is truly better than anyone else. That’s definitely something I’ll take with me throughout my entire career. You never stop learning, you never stop getting better. Even the best to ever do it—John Cena—never stops getting better. I’m pretty sure he even asked himself that question in his retirement match. So yeah, I’ll keep that with me for sure.”
John Cena could have used that moment to make it all about himself. Instead, he used it to lift others—and ask for feedback. Roxanne’s comments show exactly why he’s respected by veterans and new stars alike. Even in his final WWE chapter, Cena still taught the locker room how it’s done and fans truly respect him for that.
