Roxanne Perez has seen a great deal of success during her time in NXT and she’s had quite a few interactions with CM Punk as well. Interestingly enough, she has revealed that one of her most iconic lines on CM Punk was completely unscripted.
While speaking on the No Contest Wrestling podcast, Roxanne Perez talked about how she prepares for her promos in WWE. She stated that WWE gives her a script, but she can change some things to make it sound more natural or if she has a better idea.
“Yes, so, um, they do give us a script, and I’m able to kind of change certain things if I would say it a certain way or if I have an idea that I think might work.”
For example, the line Roxanne Perez used against CM Punk, “I always preferred your wife,” was something she came up with herself. She likes to memorize her promos before going out, but sometimes things don’t go as planned. There were times when she forgot parts of her promo or when the crowd was so loud that she couldn’t even hear herself think.
‘That line against CM Punk where I said, ‘I always preferred your wife’—I came up with that. It was a bit of a mix. I like to memorize my promo before I go out there, but honestly, sometimes you might go out there and blank at certain parts, which has happened to me. Or maybe the crowd is booing you so loudly that you can’t even hear yourself talk—you can’t even think.”
The aforementioned promo took place during the September 17 edition of WWE NXT, where Roxanne Perez confronted CM Punk before Giulia intervened. Roxanne Perez insulted CM Punk and even sided with Drew McIntyre, something that fans didn’t expect.
Nonetheless, Roxanne Perez’s promo skills continue to improve every single week and fans clearly respect her abilities now. With her main roster future more or less confirmed, we’ll have to wait and see how 2025 will turn out for The Prodigy.
Do you think Roxanne Perez will thrive on the main roster, or should she stay in NXT a little longer? How do you feel about her unscripted CM Punk insult? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
