Ross welcomes Mike Johnson from PWInsider to the show.
Johnson says that the NXT Takeover event was one of his favourite shows of the year, top to bottom. He thought the atmosphere in the arena was great and the work ethic from all the competitors was equally good. He believes that this show overachieved, and that’s not meant in the sense that he had low expectations heading into the event, rather it simply exceeded his expectations.
Johnson points out that after the departure of Finn Balor and Bayley, the NXT brand had been accused of entering somewhat of a creative lull. By ushering in this new wave of talent with Drew McIntyre and Adam Cole, NXT is redefining itself. A heel Hideo Itami and the rise of guys like Aleister Black and Velveteen Dream also present a lot for fans to look forward to in the coming months.
Ross thought that Nakamura and Jinder Mahal really needed to have a slobberknocker of a match on Sunday night, and in his opinion they fell short of that. Johnson agrees and says that the match never really provided the rollercoaster of emotion that usually accompanies WWE Championship matches on big PPV events.
