Ronda Rousey has an idea for how to cool down society’s rising tension — and it doesn’t involve cage fighting or therapy. According to the former UFC Champion, we should all be allowed to slap someone once a year.
While speaking on Fox News Saturday Night, Rousey was asked if wrestling could be a good outlet for stress. Instead of suggesting people throw each other into suplexes, she proposed something a little more… personal.
“I think everyone should be allowed one slap a year. One open-hand slap. You can slap anybody, but you can only slap them once, and you don’t know if anyone has their slap left.”
Rousey explained that the unpredictability of knowing whether someone has used their slap would encourage people to think twice before being rude or disrespectful in daily life.
“You know what I mean? So you would kind of, like, behave a little differently. You’re not really going to hurt anyone that bad. You just get one. You can’t just walk around slapping people all day, but you never know, you know, because if you’re talking to somebody and you’re being rude, you never know.”
It’s a wild concept, but coming from Rousey — who’s made a career off calculated strikes — it makes twisted sense. Instead of total chaos, Rousey envisions a world where the possibility of being slapped keeps everyone just a little more civil.
