Ronda Rousey isn’t here for your opinion — especially if you’re someone she’s never met.
During an interview at New York City Comic Con with Evan Mack, the former UFC and WWE Champion addressed the criticism she’s taken over the years, particularly from voices inside the wrestling world who say she didn’t “respect the business.” Her response? She’s not paying attention to any of it. When asked how she deals with the double standards outspoken women face compared to men, Rousey didn’t hesitate.
“I keep speaking my mind. I don’t stop.”
The conversation shifted to backlash she’s received online and from ex-wrestlers, and Rousey made it clear she doesn’t waste energy reading it.
“I don’t read press about myself. That’s a really destructive path to go down — reading your own press, reading your comments and stuff like that.”
She explained why she avoids social media feedback, saying it’s not worth absorbing other people’s negativity.
“Social media and all that kind of space is a place where I put everything out, and a lot of people take it their own way and respond to it with whatever they’re going through. I don’t need to take that back in. I’m just going to put it out, and they can do what they want with it.”
“If it helps somebody, whatever they’re going through, to vent about how much they hate me for whatever reason — if that helps them throughout the day — I don’t have to take them dealing with their pain to be my pain, you know? So it’s just like… whatever. You take it. I said it. You might not have read it in context…”
But it was Rousey’s blunt philosophy that sealed the moment. When asked why she doesn’t let online hate get to her, she hit back with the kind of energy that made her a household name.
“One way I like to think about it is: if somebody says something shitty about me, I really don’t give a f* what they think about anything else, right?” Why do I suddenly care what they think about me? Why does their opinion matter now?”
Love her or hate her, Rousey’s message is crystal clear: she’s done letting the outside world define her, and she’s not losing sleep over anyone’s opinion — no matter how loud they get.
