Ronda Rousey is officially closed the door on her WWE career.
During her appearance on Bertcast #700 with Bert Kreischer, the former Raw Women’s Champion made it clear she has no plans to ever return to the company again—citing the disorganized environment she experienced during Vince McMahon’s final stretch in control.
Rousey described her time there as frustrating and unstable, saying the creative direction constantly shifted while the roster was stuck waiting for McMahon’s approval on nearly everything.
“When I went back [to WWE], it was kind of like the death throes of the Vince McMahon era. It was when he was still around, but kind of like, not really. And then like, it was just all this indecision, and everyone’s kind of frozen because they didn’t want to, like, move without his permission, but they couldn’t get it. It was just a mess.”
She revealed that her WrestleMania match—something usually planned months ahead—was thrown together the night before the show.
“They threw my WrestleMania match together the day before. We had all year to plan this, and we were still figuring it out the day before. And like, I don’t blame Shayna for that at all. Like, she’s a saint. I love her. She was the only reason I made it through that year. But like, yeah, it was… it was a shit show.”
After dealing with creative chaos and inconsistency, Rousey says she’s made peace with walking away from pro wrestling for good.
“Probably not going to be going back. I’m grateful for the experience, but it’s not my circus, not my monkeys.”
Rousey debuted in WWE at the 2018 Royal Rumble, instantly becoming one of the company’s top stars. She went on to win the Raw Women’s Championship and headlined WrestleMania 35 in a historic triple threat match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair—the first women’s main event in WrestleMania history. After a brief hiatus, she returned in 2022, won the Royal Rumble, and later captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Her last major run saw her team up with Shayna Baszler, but it ended with creative frustrations that ultimately pushed her away for good.
Rousey’s blunt comments leave no doubt that she’s done with WWE, choosing to move on from the company that once billed her as one of its biggest stars.
