Roman Reigns may have been crushed by three Tsunamis from Bronson Reed on WWE RAW, but the real reason behind his exit isn’t what was initially claimed — and once again, Dave Meltzer is being called out for false reporting.

Earlier this week, Meltzer confidently claimed on Wrestling Observer Radio that the brutal segment was designed to write Reigns off TV so he could begin filming the upcoming Street Fighter movie.

“Well, I think that Roman… well, Roman’s going to be out filming the movie. So, you know, I thought that was an injury angle to take him out for a couple weeks.”

He also added that filming was starting imminently and that Reigns would be joined by Cody Rhodes and Hirooki Goto on set.

“Yeah, no, I mean him and Cody and Hirooki Goto are filming that Street Fighter movie, you know, pretty soon. Yeah, like, like pretty imminently, yeah.”

But now, PWInsider has shut all that down — hard. According to their report, the Street Fighter movie doesn’t even begin production until September, and Reigns isn’t required on set until September 2nd.

“We’ve been asked about rumors that Roman Reigns was beaten down on Raw to write him out to film the forthcoming Street Fighter film. In speaking with Hollywood sources, the Street Fighter film does not begin production until September and Reigns is slated to work for four weeks on the set, starting on 9/2.”

That means Reigns is still free to appear on WWE programming for at least a few more weeks, should WWE creative decide to use him. PWInsider also noted that Cody Rhodes will be involved in the project but won’t be needed nearly as long as Reigns.

“As long as the production runs on time, we are told Reigns would finish his commitments the week of 9/26. Cody Rhodes also has a role in the film, but we are told he is not expected to be on set as long as Reigns.”

So while Monday’s RAW may have looked like a storyline exit, there’s still time for the Tribal Chief to stir up more chaos before the cameras roll in September. And once again, fans are left wondering why some outlets rush to conclusions without the facts.
