Karl Anderson just shared a backstage story that proves Roman Reigns doesn’t waste time sugarcoating things when it comes to the business side of wrestling.
During an appearance on Stories with Gerald Brisco and Bradshaw (JBL), Anderson opened up about contract regrets from his early days in Bullet Club—and the blunt reality check he once heard from Reigns.
Anderson admitted that back when Bullet Club was starting to catch fire, the money from merchandise wasn’t exactly flowing, all because they didn’t get it locked into their contracts.
“I’ve heard people complain about contract stuff, complain about merch, complain about plane flights, or complain about money. As I’ve gotten older and grown, I’ve realized that if you want something, you have to get it put in your contract or you gotta stop complaining about it.”
He then shared a moment that stuck with him, when a group of wrestlers was griping about their flights—until Roman Reigns shut it down.
“I remember one time we were on a flight with Roman and someone was bitching about a flight and Roman literally said at the baggage claim, ‘Either get it written into your contract or quit b^tching.’ Damn. Good point, Roman.”
It’s a no-nonsense reminder from the Tribal Chief that in this business, if you want perks, you better negotiate them upfront—otherwise, save the complaints.
What’s your take—do you agree with Roman Roman’s advice, or should the companies be doing more for the talent by default? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
