Roman Reigns and Jon Moxley (formerly Dean Ambrose in WWE) shared the road for years as part of The Shield, but it looks like their communication has slowed down since Moxley left WWE for AEW.
During an interview with SHAK Wrestling, Reigns was asked to share a story that best captured Moxley’s personality, and while he had plenty of memories, he admitted that they haven’t spoken in a while.
“It’s been a while. I haven’t talked to him in a bit,” Reigns admitted before recalling Moxley’s unpredictable nature. “There’s so many stories I could tell you, I’m trying to think of the kookiest one because he has a bunch of them. But the one thing about Mox is you can’t GPS him, you know what I mean? You can’t be like, ‘Oh, he’s right here, don’t worry.’ We had no clue where he was, but we always knew he would be there.”
Reigns went on to describe how Moxley had a habit of disappearing in airports and even during The Shield’s signature crowd entrances.
“He scared us a couple times. They’d be playing The Shield music, and I’d be looking at Seth [Rollins] like, ‘Uh, you know where the fox is?’ And well, the fox is gonna fox,” Reigns joked. “But literally every time it was time to take that step down those stairs, he was always there. We’d be walking through an airport, and he’d just disappear. Then out of nowhere, he’d pop up with a bagel and a coffee, half a croissant in his mouth.”
While Reigns admitted it’s been a long time since they last spoke, he acknowledged that Moxley’s priorities have changed since becoming a husband and father.
“I hope he’s a little more predictable now, you know, for his wife and child’s sake,” Reigns said.
The Shield may be a thing of the past, but the bond between Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Jon Moxley will always be part of WWE history. While Reigns hasn’t heard from Moxley in a while, the respect is still there. But with Moxley thriving in AEW and Reigns reigning supreme in WWE, a reunion doesn’t seem likely anytime soon. Still, in the wrestling world, never say never.
