Rocky Romero isn’t going anywhere — at least not when it comes to New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
The veteran performer and behind-the-scenes power player confirmed that he has officially re-signed with NJPW, locking in his future with the promotion while continuing to juggle responsibilities across AEW and CMLL.
Speaking with Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, Romero revealed the news himself.
“I just re-signed with New Japan. I’m still working at CMLL. I took a little break. Going back and forth was killing me a little bit. I took a little break, but I should be back in the next couple of months.”
Romero has become one of the most important connective figures in modern pro wrestling, serving as a liaison between AEW, CMLL, and NJPW. While fans see him regularly on television — currently aligned with the Don Callis Family on AEW programming — his influence stretches far beyond the ring.
Although he won’t be wrestling at NJPW New Beginning USA in New Jersey, Romero still played a key role in putting the lineup together, further cementing his value to the company behind the curtain.
Now that he’s officially locked back in with New Japan and planning a return to CMLL action in the coming months, Romero appears set to continue wearing multiple hats across three major promotions.
