The Rock took a moment to honor mothers around the world with a touching and reflective video posted to Instagram on Mother’s Day. In the video, he expressed his admiration for moms and emphasized the importance of self-care, sharing a personal message about how much mothers mean to him.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all you mamas out there. All you beautiful mamas out there. I love you, ladies. I love you mamas. You are around the world holding it down, doing the thing. The juggle, the spinning of the plates, the wearing multiple hats. Doing everything that you do,” he said, showing appreciation for mothers everywhere.
The Rock, who has been open about being a proud mama’s boy, explained how his upbringing shaped him, saying, “If you’re a little boy and you’re being raised by a mama who is raising you with these anchoring qualities of teaching you and showing you the ways on how to be empathetic, on how to be kind, caring, nice… If you’ve got that kind of mom as a little boy, then you got a good shot. One day when you become a man at being a pretty good, decent human being.”
He also addressed the challenges that mothers face in finding time for themselves, adding, “I know sometimes, like your situation is hard. It’s not easy to put yourself first. It’s not easy to find your you time and your anchoring time. I get it… But I’m an advocate for that. To find ways to put yourself first and take care of yourself first. Do that more.”
The Rock then shared his own plans to celebrate Mother’s Day, revealing that he was spending the day with his mom and his partner Lauren Hashian. “In honor of Mother’s Day, I’m going to have my mom come over today. We’re going to play Scrabble with Lauren, and it’s just going to be the three of us. And you know what I’m going to do? I’m going to let them win, because that’s how I was raised. I’m a good man,” he joked, before adding, “I’m only kidding. I’m going to beat their ass. I mean, that’s being a good man, right? It’s fair, it’s fair.”
The Rock’s Mother’s Day message struck a chord with fans, reminding everyone that behind the muscles and movie roles, he’s still a mama’s boy at heart. Whether he’s handing out life advice or plotting to dominate a family game of Scrabble, The Rock knows how to keep it real.
