The Rock Brought to Tears by Heartfelt Birthday Gift Honoring His Father

The Rock has always held deep love and respect for his dad, Rocky Johnson, and now it appears that the Great One was moved to tears after receiving a very thoughtful gift on his birthday recently.

The Rock took to his Instagram and uploaded a video of himself after receiving a birthday gift that meant a lot to him, a ticket to a wrestling event he attended when he was 11 years old to watch his father perform. It was a ticket from a 1984 WWF show held on March 17th in Springfield, Massachusetts, where a young Rock watched his dad wrestle.

The Final Boss said the gift was one of the most meaningful he’s ever received. Holding the ticket again brought back strong emotions and a wish for one more moment with his father, just to say hello or goodbye as he was brought to tears.

The Rock recalled growing up on the road, where his father was often tired and in pain from the demands of wrestling and rarely smiled. But in the ring, his father found peace. In the video clip, he pointed out a rare slight smile from his dad during the match.

The Rock admitted he’s not easy to buy gifts for, which made this thoughtful surprise even more special. He thanked his brother Brad and his sisters Maya and Mere for giving him such a powerful and emotional memory.

Who would’ve thought years later I’d hold this ticket, and wishing I had one more shot to say hello (or goodbye) to my old man. As a kid, we were always on the road and I don’t remember my dad smiling much, as he was always mentally tired and his body banged up and in pain from the nightly grind – but he did find moments of PEACE when he was wrestling in that squared circle. Even in this video you see my dad attempting a SLIGHT SMILE 🙂 I know I’m not easy to buy gifts for, so VERY thoughtful gifts like this mean the world to me from my loved ones. Mahalo brother Brad. Rocky Johnson passed away in 2020 but his memory lives on through everything The Rock has done and the love he still has for his father. The Rock getting emotional over the special gift shows how strong their bond was and how that kind of love can last even after someone is gone.
