Rob Van Dam made it clear—some things are more important than a payday.
During a recent episode of his podcast, RVD revealed he turned down a $6,000 offer to appear in a Hulk Hogan documentary because Hogan personally asked him not to participate.
The documentary—believed to be centered around controversial moments like Hogan’s Gawker lawsuit and infamous sex tape—was being developed by a major network, possibly HBO. Despite being financially compensated for his involvement, RVD said respecting Hogan’s wishes came first.
“There was this HBO documentary… I don’t remember if it was HBO or what—one of the f*cking networks. They were doing a story on Hulk, and they reached out to me. They wanted me to be part of it.”
“They were offering six grand. I said, ‘They offered me six grand to do it.’ And Hulk said, ‘Whatever you need, brother. I’ll give you whatever you need.’ But he asked me not to do it… and I didn’t.”
Van Dam added that Hogan didn’t want to relive the negativity attached to those scandals. The thought of digging up old wounds wasn’t something Hogan wanted to endure, and RVD didn’t need to hear that twice.
“He just didn’t want to go through all that sh*t again—didn’t want people dragging all that sh*t back up, especially the sex tape stuff and lawsuits. And I respected that. I didn’t need the six grand. That was easy.”
The moment speaks volumes about the kind of loyalty Van Dam had for the Hulkster. Even with money on the table, RVD didn’t hesitate to back off the project—because when Hogan asked, that was enough.
