Rob Van Dam just dropped a bombshell that he’s kept under wraps for years—he once smoked weed with Hulk Hogan.

The WWE Hall of Famer finally revealed the story during a tribute episode after Hogan’s death, saying he never told it before out of respect. RVD explained he’s always dodged the question when people asked him who the most famous person was that he ever lit up with. But now, with Hogan gone, he decided to let the story out.

“This is a question that I wouldn’t answer before out of respect… I’ve been asked a lot of times, ‘Who’s the most famous person that you ever smoked weed with?’ And I always say, out of respect for him, I don’t think he would appreciate me—you know, he would say, ‘Keep my name out your [__] mouth.’”

“Anyway, dude—that would be Hulk Hogan. Who I think is at least a top contender for the most recognizable man on the planet. I could be wrong. I don’t live in Zimbabwe.”

The story took place after a WWE show on the East Coast. RVD, Hogan, and Eric Bischoff flew in on a private jet. After the event, it was just Van Dam and Hogan riding in a limo when hunger struck. They stopped at a Chinese restaurant late at night—the only thing open—and ate before stepping outside.

“Not a real exciting story, but one time, for some reason… we lived on the West Coast, and Eric Bischoff, Hulk Hogan, and Rob Van Dam took a private jet to RAW or SmackDown—I don’t remember the show. But after the show, it was just me and Hulk in the limo going back to the airport. We pulled over and found the only place open—a Chinese restaurant. After we ate, we were outside standing on the sidewalk getting some air…”

“I said, ‘Bro, I’m gonna light up a doobie. Just giving you a heads up.’ And he said, ‘Well, light it up, brother.’ And I [] smoked it and handed it to him… and he [] hit it. And I was like, ‘Damn, okay!’”

Van Dam was stunned that Hogan—a global icon and someone always conscious of his image—would actually take a hit, and in public no less. At the time, marijuana still wasn’t legal, which made the moment even more surreal. For RVD, it was a major turning point in their friendship.

Rob Van Dam finally letting this story out shows just how close he and Hogan were, and it paints a different picture of the Hulkster than most fans ever expected.
