Rob Gronkowski didn’t think twice about calling himself out after Vince McMahon stole the show behind the scenes at WrestleMania 36.

During his recent appearance on What’s Your Story with Stephanie McMahon, the former NFL star talked about his hesitation to jump off a scaffold during his 24/7 title segment. Gronk was set to leap onto a pile of WWE Superstars—but had second thoughts, especially since he had just decided to return to football.

“I already knew I was coming back to football. The football thing went down about a week before this, two weeks before,” Gronk said. “In the back of my mind, it kind of mindfucked me that I was going back to football because I felt like, ‘I can’t be too crazy. I can’t get hurt.’ I was kind of hesitant.”

Then Vince McMahon stepped in—and jumped off the scaffold himself just to prove it could be done.

“Your dad came over and jumped right off the scaffold. I was like, ‘Dude, wow, that was impressive.’ He did such a good job. I was like, to myself, ‘I’m a huge pussy.’”

Stephanie McMahon chimed in during the interview, saying that reaction was exactly what her father wanted. Gronk agreed:

“He was going for that. Then I was like, ‘I’m jumping.’ No hesitation from there. I did it and won the 24/7 belt.”

That infamous leap helped Gronk capture the 24/7 Championship in a chaotic segment that aired on night two of WrestleMania 36. While he later dropped the belt, the clip remains one of the more bizarre and memorable celebrity moments in recent WWE history.
