Jey Uso is heading to WrestleMania 41, but no one may be prouder than his father, WWE Hall of Famer Rikishi. Following Jey’s Royal Rumble victory, longtime WWE announcer Michael Cole revealed that he ran into Rikishi after the event and witnessed a deeply emotional moment.

Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, Cole recalled the encounter at the hotel after the Royal Rumble event. “I don’t know if Pops [Rikishi] told you, but as soon as the Rumble was over, I was staying out of the airport and I walked into the hotel, and your dad was there,” Cole said.

According to Cole, Rikishi had been watching the match at a Royal Rumble watch party and had no idea what was happening until the moment unfolded before him. “He walked out, and he had these tears in his eyes and he gave me this massive hug,” Cole revealed. “That is Rikishi, of course, the Hall of Famer. He had no words for it. He was so incredibly proud of you.”

Jey Uso’s journey to WrestleMania 41 hasn’t been without its share of backlash. His victory at the Royal Rumble was met with criticism from some fans, but he hasn’t let the negativity affect him. He addressed the response on The Pat McAfee Show, making it clear that he’s staying focused on what’s ahead.

“I don’t pay no mind to that, Uce. I don’t need none of that. Focus right here, Uce—tunnel vision. There’s a lot of haters around here, Uce. They talk it because they can’t walk it,” Jey said.

The Royal Rumble match ended in dramatic fashion, with Jey eliminating John Cena to secure his spot at WrestleMania 41. Reports suggest WWE had planned his victory as early as December, setting the stage for his upcoming showdown with GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship.

With his father’s support behind him, Jey Uso is heading into the biggest match of his career with momentum on his side.
