Jey Uso is on the road to WrestleMania after winning the men’s Royal Rumble, earning a title shot for either the Undisputed WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship. However, he’s been getting criticism when it comes to his in-ring skills and now Rikishi has come to his son’s defense.
While speaking on his Off The Top podcast, Rikishi defended Jey against the criticism, stating that his skills have been there for 17 years. He emphasized that Jey’s success is due to the opportunity he received and the support of the WWE Universe. Rikishi assured fans that they won’t be disappointed when Jey steps into the ring at WrestleMania, now dubbed YeetMania.
“As far as the in-ring skills, the skills are there. If it wasn’t there, to me, I don’t think the kid would be as over as he is right now. The skills have been there for 17 years. What we should take a look at what was the opportunity. The opportunity came, the wrestling universe has spoken. The WWE has heard it and seen it and gave this kid a chance. So at the end of the day, you can rest assured you are not gonna be disappointed when the Yeet Man shows up, does what he does, and you’re gonna watch what happens at YeetMania. So get ready. Yeet.”
Reports stated that Jey Uso was planned to win the Men’s Royal Rumble as early as January, or possibly even back in December. For now, he is fully focused on his upcoming WrestleMania 41 match against GUNTHER for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
While many fans are not happy about Jey Uso winning the Men’s Royal Rumble match, Jey Uso made it clear he put in the work for several years and feels he more than deserves the win. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether Uso will end up becoming the World Heavyweight Champion at WrestleMania 41 this year.
