Ricochet didn’t hold back after ESPN gave WWE’s WrestlePalooza event a lukewarm “C” grade.
The former WWE star—now making headlines as part of AEW—decided to troll ESPN’s post-show review with a blunt message that took aim at their credibility and taste. Shortly after ESPN combat sports writer Andreas Hale slammed the event as “average,” Ricochet fired back on Twitter, writing:
“I know our show was way better than a C. 😂 👑 #Ahaa”
This isn’t the first time Ricochet has stirred the pot online. He previously went viral for mocking a fan who switched from watching AEW All Out to WWE WrestlePalooza—only to see Brock Lesnar squash John Cena. At the time, Ricochet quote-posted the video and responded with a simple:
“Thats what you get.”
But this latest jab goes deeper. ESPN’s WrestlePalooza review didn’t hold back, with Hale singling out only one match—Stephanie Vaquer vs. IYO SKY—as a true standout.
“The excellent Vaquer vs. Sky match saved this show from being truly average. It was a phenomenal display inside the squared circle.”
The rest of the card didn’t fare as well. Hale gave Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena a C- and called Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre “underwhelming.” He added:
“Everything else was either underwhelming (the short Rhodes-McIntyre match) or a setup for a future match (Lesnar dominating Cena). For a card that promised to have epic moments, it fell a little short of expectations.”
And the issues didn’t stop in the ring. Ahead of the event, ESPN SVP John Lasker admitted not all subscribers would be able to stream WrestlePalooza due to the rollout of their new ESPN Unlimited tier.
“We’re not 100% there today, but over the next couple of months, the vast majority of folks that are subscribed to ESPN through an MVPD will have access to our ESPN Unlimited plan and then therefore have access to all the PLEs to come.”
Fans reported login failures, access errors, and tier confusion during the event—despite hours of pre-show coverage and even a SportsCenter segment broadcast live from the venue.
In the aftermath, Ricochet’s dig at ESPN hits a nerve for fans already frustrated with the network’s rollout and WWE’s performance. Whether trolling for fun or sending a message, Ricochet isn’t holding back his opinion.
