Ricochet’s night at AEW Revolution 2026 ended in chaos after the AEW star lost the National Championship in dramatic fashion during the Zero Hour pre-show.

The title was on the line in a chaotic 21-man Blackjack battle royal that spilled into the opening moments of the main pay-per-view. Ricochet entered the match as champion and battled through a stacked field of competitors in hopes of extending the reign he started at Full Gear 2025.

Despite the overwhelming odds, Ricochet managed to survive the chaos and make it to the final two competitors in the match. However, the momentum shifted in the closing moments when Jack Perry sent him crashing over the top rope, securing the victory and becoming the new AEW National Champion. The loss clearly hit Ricochet hard.

AEW released a backstage video on social media showing the former champion completely losing his composure. In the clip, Ricochet storms through the backstage area destroying equipment and shouting in frustration before turning directly toward the camera with a chilling message aimed at Perry and the entire locker room.

“Jack, I promise you, I promise you, Jack, if not you, somebody will be playing in fcking blood.”*

Ricochet’s anger didn’t appear to come out of nowhere. In the days leading up to AEW Revolution, he publicly questioned why the company placed him in a massive battle royal to defend the championship instead of giving him a traditional singles title defense. Ricochet even suggested that the match format was designed to sabotage his championship run.

“And the thing is, it's funny, because it seems like this company is doing everything that they can to try to sabotage my title reign. But listen to me, it doesn't matter how many people are in this Battle Royale, and it doesn't matter how these imbeciles, these morons boo, because I know that you can hear me.”

He also made it clear that the numbers didn’t intimidate him, insisting that he was confident heading into the match regardless of how many opponents he had to face.

“And it doesn't matter if there are 21, 41, or 101, because the only 1 that matters is me.”

That confidence ultimately wasn’t enough to overcome the numbers, and Jack Perry now walks away from Revolution with the championship. Meanwhile, Ricochet’s explosive reaction after the loss suggests that this story may be far from over as tensions continue to rise in AEW.

Ricochet has built a reputation throughout his career as one of the most athletic performers in wrestling, but Revolution may mark a turning point in his AEW run if his backstage outburst is any indication of what’s coming next.
