Ricochet found himself at the center of a major social media controversy on March 16, 2026 after responding to a fan in a way that quickly sparked outrage across wrestling Twitter.

The situation unfolded shortly after Ricochet lost the AEW National Championship at AEW Revolution 2026 in a chaotic 21-man Blackjack Battle Royal. Following the loss, AEW released a backstage video showing Ricochet angrily destroying equipment while venting about the defeat. One fan responded to the clip on X with laughing emojis and a comment mocking his performance.

That post came from a Canadian fan who openly shares her journey living with Multiple Sclerosis. Ricochet replied directly to the message, and his response immediately drew criticism from other fans online.

“I’m glad you got MS.”

The post quickly began circulating across social media platforms, leading to a wave of backlash from fans who felt the response crossed a line. Many users called out the remark while sharing screenshots of the exchange, with some arguing that even in character it was inappropriate to reference a serious illness. Several posts criticizing Ricochet quickly gained traction as the story spread.

Ricochet later responded to the criticism and defended his actions, claiming the reaction ignored the abuse he and his family receive online. In another message, he suggested that the same people criticizing him have regularly targeted him and his wife with hateful comments.

“Its soooo hilarious that the amount of little bitches who has tweeted and wished harm on me, who has wished even death, said some of the most VILE things to me AND my wife. People who try and make fun of me EVERYDAY. But those same little bitches can’t take it when I do it back.”

The backlash continued to grow throughout the day, pushing Ricochet’s name into trending discussions on social media.

Ricochet is married to former WWE ring announcer Samantha Irvin, and both have previously spoken about the amount of online harassment they receive from fans. Still, many fans argued that the remark about Multiple Sclerosis crossed a line regardless of the context. As the discussion continued online, the exchange became one of the most talked about wrestling-related social media moments of the day.

What do you think about Ricochet’s response to the fan and the backlash that followed? Do you think wrestlers should respond to fans this way online, or did this situation go too far? Let us know what you think in the comments and share your thoughts.
