Ricochet isn’t just wearing gold—he’s convinced he’s the centerpiece of AEW’s future, and he didn’t shy away from saying it.
While speaking with The Sporster about his title reign as the inaugural AEW National Champion, he put himself above the entire roster in terms of value, relevance, and profitability. Ricochet was asked what kind of legacy he wants to leave with his new championship, and instead of downplaying expectations, he doubled down on what he believes is undeniable—that there’s nobody in AEW more marketable than him.
Before delivering his claim, he explained that the title’s importance will depend on the work he puts into elevating it. He made it clear that everything he has done up to this point has prepared him for this spotlight.
“Honestly, as much as I don’t like to admit it, but it’s going to be hard work… it’s up to me to decide on the legacy of the title.”
That’s when he shifted into what he believes separates him from everyone else wearing gold—or trying to. Ricochet said the AEW National Championship has the ideal presentation, and the combination of his star power and the title’s look is exactly what will make it stand out.
“I think out of all the people in the company, I think I am the most marketable. I’m the most profitable. I am the most, you know, interchangeable one—along with whether it’s pop culture, whatever it is, I’m the most marketable and this title is the prettiest one. So I think those two things together are just going to blend perfectly.”
He closed by saying that nobody has spent more of their career elevating others and turning titles into something bigger than what they were intended to be.
“I think the past two decades have shown that I can take a championship and make it absolutely mean more than what you ever think it could be.”
Ricochet is already talking about everyone holding gold—from trios champions, to world champions, all the way down the ladder—and he’s not being shy about naming them. As long as he stays healthy and remains champion, he’s promising that the National Title becomes the measuring stick.
Ricochet is treating this championship as a mission. Now the question is whether the rest of AEW is prepared to deal with someone who believes the belt is his platform—and everyone else is in the way.
Ricochet has placed the entire locker room on notice. Now it’s time to find out who steps up, who steps aside, and who ends up regretting they ever let him carry AEW’s newest title into the spotlight.
