The pro wrestling world is full of legends who have a lot to say. This year’s AEW Dynamite included a rare public appearance for Ricky Steamboat, and it ended badly for him. Now, he is able to speak on the ordeal.

Ricky Steamboat made an appearance on AEW’s Blood and Guts edition of Dynamite this week, where he took part in a segment with FTR that ended in an on-screen attack. After the show was over, Steamboat opened up about how things felt behind the scenes and what he sees happening in the company today.

While speaking with Bill Apter in a new interview, Ricky Steamboat was asked about his time backstage at Dynamite. He said AEW feels like a “first class operation,” and expanded on that in detail.

“The first class operation, I think. I know Tony Khan does a lot for the boys. His father owns the Jacksonville Jags. When I first talked to Tony a few years back, he said that he wanted of the wrestlers like the way his dad does football players. That is with any kind of retirement plans or hospitalization coverage and stuff like that. As you know, Bill, we never had any of that. Just talking to a few of the wrestlers backstage, they say, ‘yeah, he takes care of us.’ It’s real good. I do question some of the storylines that they like to you know, bring forward.”

We will have to see where Ricky Steamboat pops up next. He is a living legend, and he should be treated like it. It is obvious that he’s still willing to go all out for the good of the segment. He certainly helped FTR get some heat on Dynamite.

Ricky Steamboat doesn’t show up in AEW on a weekly basis. Only time will tell if this experience may encourage him to work with Tony Khan’s company more often. For some reason, he doesn’t make nearly as many WWE appearance, despite his history with the company.
