Rhea Ripley doesn’t always love the direction she’s given in WWE—but she’s found a way to make it work.

During a recent conversation with Sports Illustrated, the Women’s World Champion opened up about navigating creative decisions backstage, especially when she doesn’t fully agree with the plan in front of her.

The interviewer brought up how WWE talent often has to follow through with creative choices that may not align with their personal vision, and asked how Ripley still finds a way to shine. Her response made it clear that the key is personal ownership.

“You kind of just try and make it your own. Like, you have to put your personal twist on things because sometimes, like, you can give your ideas and have that, um, like, work together on what is actually being done. But sometimes they’re set on what they want, and you just have to make it into something that represents you—how you are. And that’s—that’s the best that you can do sometimes.”

Ripley stressed the importance of authenticity even in scripted environments. While she doesn’t always get her way creatively, she explained that it’s about making the most of it and turning even rigid plans into something that feels real.

“And I feel like we’re all very good at making something our own.”

Her ability to adapt and stay true to herself while working within WWE’s structure shows just how much professionalism it takes to thrive on the main roster. Even when the storyline isn’t ideal, Ripley still finds ways to own the moment and keep fans locked in.
