Rhea Ripley isn’t completely sold on WWE’s new behind-the-scenes reality show, Unreal. While CM Punk made it clear he’s uncomfortable with the show exposing too much of wrestling’s inner workings, Rhea is taking a more measured approach—but she’s still raising eyebrows with her honest take.

Speaking during the Progressive podcast, Ripley was asked if she shared Punk’s concerns about Unreal revealing things traditionally kept behind closed doors. While she supported WWE’s growth and evolution, she didn’t shy away from admitting her own doubts.

“Yeah. I mean, it’s an always growing sort of business. I feel like WWE, they’re always trying new things and bits and pieces to like make it different and make it grow. And this is just one of the next steps. Do I think that everything should be shown? No. Um, I haven’t seen it yet, so I’m very intrigued to see. What would you like to know? I can help you. Yeah, I’m really intrigued to see what’s what’s on there.”

Ripley also revealed that having camera crews constantly around the locker room and backstage threw her off, especially when trying to handle private conversations or unscripted emotions.

“It was really strange while like having the camera crew around as well ’cause like you’re so used to all of this being like so top secret and hidden and you just you didn’t know how to like really react to things sometimes. Like some of the questions were just like… it was just wild to me.”

But she also acknowledged that times have changed. With social media and constant fan interaction, kayfabe isn’t what it used to be—and Ripley knows fans already see talent traveling together or hanging out outside the ring.

“But at the same time like it is a growing business and people are now noticing how the business works and they see us together at airports. They see us together if we go out. So they know that behind the scenes we do talk to each other. We do hang out. We are a family. But now it’s like you’re seeing us in the workplace doing that.”

While CM Punk remains deeply uneasy about lifting the curtain on wrestling’s secrets, Ripley seems cautiously open to the idea—though even she has limits on how much she believes should be shared.

WWE Unreal premieres July 29, and with stars like Punk and Ripley reacting this way, it’s clear not every Superstar is thrilled to have their private moments on full display.
