WWE Raw marked its one-year anniversary on Netflix on January 5, 2026, with a live broadcast from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The first Raw of 2026 featured a Stranger Things theme and included multiple matches and segments throughout the night.
The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship was on the line as The Kabuki Warriors defended their titles against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY on WWE Raw. The Barclays Center has already hosted plenty of historic matches, but fans were more than ready for this one.
This tag team contest kicked off a very special episode of the longest running weekly episode television show in history. It also received a big fight feel, thanks to Alicia Taylor’s ring introductions.
This match went through a commercial break as both teams tried their best to outdo each other. Fans chanted for Rhea Ripley as she battled the Kabuki Warrior’s double team efforts as well.
IYO Sky eventually got a tag and she took control of the match with a few moves, including a slingblade, before she nailed a top rope missile dropkick on both Kabuki Warriors. Kairi Sane ended another segment before a commercial break by pulling off a brutal double stomp on IYO as she hung across the ropes.
Rhea Ripley eventually got the hot tag after we returned from break, and she cleaned house for a bit. Ripley beat Kairi Sane down with a few abusive moves, before Asuka ate a boot as well. Then Rhea hoisted Kairi up before tapping IYO and slamming Sane down with a Razor’s Edge. Then IYO nailed a missile dropkick for another near fall.
Then Rhea hit a Riptide, but Asuka shoved her into IYO. After Rhea kicked out at two, the match carried on. Over 14,000 fans in Brooklyn cheered on as they watched the two teams wrap up this title match.
In the end, Rhea nailed Asuka with a Riptide as IYO nailed an Over The Moonsault. Then Rhea got the pinfall to win the championships.
The Women’s Tag Team Title picture has certainly come a long way since Vince McMachon mismanaged the championships. Only time will tell what is next for them, but it appears that we are just getting started with this new year.
