Aalyah Mysterio stepping into the ring last year got a lot of people talking — but now Rey Mysterio is finally giving a real update on whether his daughter could actually pursue wrestling.
While Aalyah previously trained at the Dungeon 2.0 with Natalya, TJ Wilson, Rey, and several WWE stars, many saw it as a one-off experience. However, Rey made it clear this week that there’s more to the story.
Speaking on the February 18, 2026 episode of What Do You Wanna Talk About? with Cody Rhodes, Rey opened up about where things stand — and revealed that Aalyah’s interest might be more serious than expected. Rey explained that the opportunity came shortly after he was cleared from injury and that he had promised Aalyah she could try it once she graduated.
“Right before I got cleared from my injury, I went to the PC in Orlando. My daughter had been asking me, ‘Dad, I want to jump in the ring. I want to see what it’s like.’ I told her we’d do it when she graduated. So she graduated in June, and we flew up there on a Wednesday.”
What surprised him most was how natural she looked inside the ring. Rey admitted he initially assumed she wouldn’t enjoy the physical side of wrestling, especially the stiffness of the ropes and the impact of bumps. Instead, she walked away wanting more.
“I was thinking, there’s no way this is her first time stepping in the ring. She had a natural connection with positioning and hitting the ropes. I was like, that is scary crazy. She got in there with me to feel what it was like, to feel the mat and the ropes. Later that day, we went to the Dungeon and she did a little bit there too. When we finished, she said, ‘I really enjoyed this. This is really fun.' I was surprised because I thought she wouldn’t like it. The ropes are stiff and the bumps are hard. So I told her, ‘Okay, the next step is to see how you handle a full week of training. If you still like it after that, maybe it’s something you want to think about.’”
Now, Rey Mysterio says he’s considering pushing her toward a more serious training schedule to see if this is something she truly wants.
“So I’m actually trying to get her out there pretty soon so she knows what it’s like to train every day—wake up, work out all day, sleep, and then do it all over again. That’s intense. When I think about it, it scares me, but it also excites me.”
The key takeaway? Aalyah Mysterio’s wrestling curiosity isn’t just a casual experiment anymore. Rey isn’t announcing a debut — but he’s clearly testing the waters in a structured way. If she handles a full training week and still loves it, the Mysterio legacy could expand even further.
Do you think Aalyah Mysterio should follow in her father’s footsteps, or is WWE better off keeping her off-screen? Sound off in the comments.
