Dominik Mysterio first appeared on WWE television in 2005 during a dramatic storyline with Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero, where the two wrestlers fought over custody of Dominik. Many fans wondered what made Dominik take part in the story, and now Rey has explained the conditions that reeled Dom in.
While speaking on Club 250 podcast, Rey Mysterio looked back on the famous 2005 storyline with Dominik and Eddie Guerrero. He said it was exciting and a bit unreal. Rey remembered asking Dominik if he wanted to be part of it.
Dominik was usually shy and liked staying backstage, but when he heard he would get paid, he agreed. When he found out he could skip school as well, he was even happier.
“I remember asking him if he wanted to be a part of it. He never liked being in front of cameras—he’d always hang out backstage—but when he knew money was involved, he said, ‘Yeah, I’m in.’ And when he realized he didn’t have to go to school, he said, ‘Yeah, I’m double in.’ So he really enjoyed it.”
Dominik Mysterio even ended up getting a really good payday for the entire storyline, so it was clearly worth it for him. The exposure also laid an early foundation for his future career, as fans remember seeing him as a child during that famous feud and now he’s one of WWE’s biggest stars, so it turned out for the best.
