Rey Mysterio had fans on edge after Monday’s episode of RAW, where he appeared to suffer an arm injury following his match with Austin Theory. The moment looked serious enough that concern spread fast about whether the WWE Hall of Famer would even be able to compete in the Men’s Royal Rumble.

Now, a clearer picture is starting to emerge — and the focus is firmly on his injury status. PWInsider.com has reported that Mysterio is currently dealing with a rib issue, not an arm injury. As of now, there is still no confirmed word on the severity of the injury or whether it will keep him out of the Royal Rumble this Saturday. That uncertainty alone keeps his status very much up in the air.

At the same time, Mysterio has offered fans a visual update of his own. On January 28, he posted a group photo from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia alongside Liv Morgan, Jade Cargill, Jacob Fatu, and Raquel Rodriguez. He didn’t mention the injury, but he did caption the post, “🔥Familia🔥 #sneakercon”

His presence overseas just days before the event suggests he’s at least traveling with the roster, which is usually a positive sign — but with PWInsider confirming a rib issue, it’s now less about whether he’s present and more about whether he’s medically cleared.

The situation is especially concerning given Mysterio’s recent history. He only returned in November 2025 after missing seven months with a torn groin. Another setback this close to a major match would be brutal timing for a legend who has already fought his way back once.

Right now, the truth is simple: Rey Mysterio is hurt, the issue involves his ribs, and his Royal Rumble status is still uncertain.
