Fans have been waiting to see The Lucha Brothers reunite in WWE — but according to Rey Fenix, the delay is intentional.
While appearing on the RRBG Inc. podcast on March 10, 2026, Rey Fenix was asked directly why he and Penta haven’t reunited on WWE television yet. The question came after both wrestlers have spent months working separately despite being one of the most successful tag teams in modern wrestling.
Fenix responded by explaining that while he misses teaming with his brother, he doesn’t see the situation as a negative. Instead, he believes the current direction allows both of them to establish themselves as individual performers before eventually coming back together.
“Look, I think — and this is how I see it — that it’s not a bad thing. Obviously, I miss wrestling with my brother. I miss being in the ring with him, fighting and having fun with him every day when we’re working. But this is also a great opportunity for us to show who we are individually, you know?”
Fenix also pointed out that WWE has been giving him opportunities to work with several top names. By facing different opponents and teaming with different partners, he believes both he and Penta are able to grow their reputations beyond just being part of a tag team.
“I’ve worked with Gable, I worked with Andrade in his time, I’m working now with Sami Zayn, and the same thing with Rey — I’ve worked with Rey in recent AAA events. I think it’s a great opportunity both for us as wrestlers and for the audience to see something different.”
Even though the brothers are currently on separate paths, Fenix made it clear that both of them are fully aware people are waiting to see the team reunite. According to him, the demand for the Lucha Brothers has not gone unnoticed backstage.
“Obviously — and believe me — they know. I’m sure they know that people are waiting for the Lucha Brothers, and the Lucha Brothers are waiting for that moment too.”
Fenix then explained that patience is the biggest lesson wrestling has taught him. Rather than rushing the reunion, he believes the moment will mean more if it happens at the correct time.
“It’s going to happen at the right time, the correct time that the Lucha Brothers deserve. It’s not that we don’t deserve it now, or that you all as fans don’t deserve to see the Lucha Brothers today. But I know that when that moment comes, it will be the right moment, and it will be the correct moment.”
They briefly reunited last year during an appearance at Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide’s Alianzas event in November 2025. During that show, the brothers confronted Dominik Mysterio and El Grande Americano after their match against Dragon Lee and El Hijo del Vikingo, setting up a potential tag match at AAA Guerra de Titanes.
However, the planned reunion never fully materialized after Penta suffered an injury before the event. Instead of teaming with his brother, Fenix ended up teaming with Rey Mysterio. For now, the Lucha Brothers remain on separate tracks in WWE. Still, Fenix’s comments suggest the reunion is something the company is aware of — and it’s simply waiting for the right moment.
