JD McDonagh took a nasty fall during the January 27 episode of RAW, and now more details are coming out about just how serious things got behind the scenes.

The Judgment Day star suffered multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung after a dangerous moonsault attempt sent him crashing hard into the announce table. Despite the injury, McDonagh powered through the World Tag Team Championship match alongside Dominik Mysterio against The War Raiders.

Triple H reportedly checked in on McDonagh multiple times after the match, making sure he was receiving the right medical attention. WWE’s creative team was also informed immediately, showing just how much concern there was for his condition. After RAW went off the air, McDonagh was taken to a hospital for further evaluation, but that didn’t stop him from putting on a show.

Referee Shawn Bennett, who officiated the match, took to social media to share a powerful moment from the night. Posting a photo of McDonagh pulling off a moonsault even after the brutal announce table bump, Bennett wrote:

“Last night, I looked directly into the eyes of a man that wouldn’t stop for nothing. The pain, fire, & fight were all raging inside him. Then he got up and did this. Unreal. Love to @jd_mcdonagh. I look forward to when he returns w/ the pure passion he brings to work every day.”

McDonagh is expected to be out for at least a couple of months, meaning The Judgment Day will have to adjust in his absence. However, with the kind of toughness and passion he’s already shown, it’s only a matter of time before he’s back in the ring reminding everyone why he’s one of WWE’s toughest competitors.

How do you think The Judgment Day will handle McDonagh’s absence? Will he come back stronger than ever? Drop a comment and let us know your thoughts.
