Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens had a very special moment at WrestleMania 39 as they defeated The Usos to win the WWE Tag Team Championships. They had their normal entrance for the match, and now it appears Triple H rejected a special entrance for Owens and Zayn at WrestleMania 39.
While speaking on My Mom’s Basement, Kevin Owens revealed why he and Sami Zayn didn’t have a special entrance at WrestleMania 39. While watching other wrestlers rehearse their big entrances, they realized they didn’t have anything planned, even though they were in the main event. They thought maybe they could at least walk in through the crowd to make it more exciting.
They brought the idea to Triple H, but he told them they didn’t need a fancy entrance. He said their gritty and simple style didn’t really fit with something big and flashy. When they asked again about coming through the crowd, Triple H looked around the stadium and said it would take too long and wouldn’t work well. Owens agreed it wasn’t the best idea, so they kept things simple.
“WrestleMania 39 in L.A.—me and Sami are in the ring during the afternoon, watching everyone rehearse their entrances. They’re all doing these crazy, elaborate entrances, and we’re like, ‘Man, we’re in the main event and we don’t have any.’
So we look at each other and go, ‘Maybe we should—maybe we could at least come from the crowd or something, you know?’ So we tell Triple H, ‘Everybody’s got these crazy entrances, and we don’t have anything.’ And he goes, ‘Yeah, you guys don’t need anything.’
I’m like, ‘What do you mean?’ And he says, ‘You guys are just gritty. You’re not the kind of guys who would have these big, elaborate entrances.’ So we’re like, ‘All right, well, can we come out from the crowd then?’ And he looks around and goes, ‘Look—look around. Where are you going to come from? This is going to take forever.’ And I go, ‘Yeah, I guess that’s true too.'”
In the end, Owens and Zayn kept their usual entrance, and many fans thought it was the right choice. The emotion of the match, the crowd’s excitement, and the ending of their story made the moment truly unforgettable.
Sometimes, less is better, and while other stars used fireworks and big entrances, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn focused on their story and bond with the fans. It certainly worked, creating one of the most memorable WrestleMania main events in years, and that’s all that matters in the end.
