Rey Mysterio was noticeably absent from the January 12, 2026 episode of Monday Night RAW, and now we finally know why.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on January 16, Rey missed this week’s RAW due to a minor injury. The good news? It’s not serious, and the legendary luchador is expected to be back very soon.
Fans had been wondering about his absence, especially since he’s been in an ongoing feud with The Vision. The week before, on the January 5 RAW, Mysterio made an appearance during the CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker main event. He stormed the ring with Dragon Lee and Penta, helping to clean house.
That segment saw Dragon Lee hit a headscissors takedown on Austin Theory, while Bronson Reed tried to neutralize the chaos by catching both Rey and Penta mid-air—only to eat a flurry of superkicks from Lee and a DDT from Rey to close it out.
Given that moment, fans were puzzled when Rey didn’t show up on the following week’s show. Now it’s clear—he just needed a short break to recover, and his return could come as early as next week.
Rey Mysterio might be down temporarily, but he’s definitely not out. With a minor injury keeping him sidelined for just a short spell, expect him back in the ring soon—possibly with revenge in mind for The Vision.
