This year’s Blood and Guts event will be taking place on Wednesday, November 12, at the First Horizon Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. Many people wondered why Greensboro was chosen and now Tony Khan has revealed the actual reason for choosing this location.

While speaking to 3NT Wrestling, Tony Khan explained that Greensboro was chosen as the location for Blood and Guts because of its deep connection to wrestling history and AEW’s own success there. He described Greensboro as one of the most important wrestling cities ever, a place where the story of pro wrestling simply can’t be told without mentioning it.

“We’re bringing Blood and Guts to Greensboro — and AEW has such special memories there. It’s one of the greatest wrestling cities ever, with one of the richest legacies in pro wrestling history. I’m such a big fan of this sport, and you simply can’t tell the story of wrestling without mentioning Greensboro, North Carolina.”

Khan talked about AEW’s past in the city, calling Revolution 2024 which featured Sting’s retirement match, one of the best shows in company history and his personal favorite night in wrestling.

Khan noted how the event broke multiple records, including the highest attendance and biggest gate in the history of the Greensboro Coliseum. He said it was a fitting tribute to both Sting and the city’s wrestling legacy.

“I was so honored that we were able to have one of the best shows in AEW history there. Honestly, my favorite night ever in wrestling was Revolution 2024 — Sting’s retirement match — in that very same building where we’ll be returning on Wednesday, November 12th. We’ve had amazing success in Greensboro, and it just makes sense to go back. AEW holds all the pro wrestling records in the city — the highest attendance, the biggest gate in Greensboro Coliseum history — and it’s incredible that Sting’s retirement match set those records. It’s fitting, really, that such a historic wrestling city hosted a moment that big.”

The AEW President added that returning for Blood and Guts feels natural, as AEW has already created great moments there. The city’s passionate fanbase and strong support for AEW made it the perfect choice to host Blood and Guts there.

“And it’s only right that we bring Blood and Guts there next. We’ve spilled plenty of blood and guts in that building before, especially in that match. I know the fans will be fired up for it — Greensboro loves wrestling, and now we know Greensboro loves AEW too.”

Tony Khan chose Greensboro for Blood and Guts 2025 to honor wrestling history and stay connected with AEW’s loyal southern fans. So we’ll just have to see if this year’s event will live up to expectations, especially since it will feature the first-ever Women’s Blood and Guts match.
