If you thought Edge, Stone Cold Steve Austin, or even Jinder Mahal were making surprise returns at Survivor Series 2025, you weren’t alone — but it turns out WWE was just having some fun at fans’ expense.
As WWE crews set up the massive stage at Petco Park in San Diego ahead of the November 29 Premium Live Event, eagle-eyed and sharp-eared fans watching from nearby apartments caught something wild: entrance themes and titantrons for Edge, Austin, and Jinder Mahal blaring through the stadium. It didn’t take long before social media lit up with return rumors.
According to PWInsider, WWE wasn’t teasing any returns at all. Instead, they played those entrances on purpose after discovering that someone in a nearby apartment was livestreaming the setup.
“WWE isn’t teasing returns for Edge, Steve Austin, Jinder Mahal, or anyone else whose music and titantron videos played during the Survivor Series setup in San Diego.”
The report adds that WWE staff chose specific entrance themes just to mess with the leak, knowing the videos would spread online.
“They specifically chose to play those while testing lighting and sound because they discovered someone in a nearby apartment livestreaming the setup process. Someone in WWE decided to have some fun to see what would leak.”
So no, WWE wasn’t really teasing any returns at all. They were trolling the internet in real time, and fans took the bait exactly as expected. Survivor Series may be full of surprises — but this wasn’t one of them.
