Randy Orton’s recent feud with Aleister Black may not be random after all — and a new update suggests it could be setting up something much bigger.
Over the past few weeks, Black repeatedly confronted Orton, leading to a match on the February 20 episode of SmackDown. Black picked up a win after interference from Drew McIntyre, leading many to wonder where the story was headed.
According to Self Made Pro, there’s a deeper purpose behind it. Speaking during a Self Made Session on February 23, 2026, Self Made Pro revealed that WWE’s creative team is using Black in a very specific way. The response shut down the idea that this is simply about a standalone WrestleMania match.
“There's a very good chance that Jacob faces Randy Orton because Randy Orton is revealed as the person that attacked him.
I asked creative, ‘Why is Randy working with Aleister Black? Is that a WrestleMania thing?’ I asked that last week. They said, ‘No, it’s — we’re…’ basically, they said that we’re using Aleister the way we used to use Kross, in that we’re using him to indicate something looming or to foreshadow something with another person’s character.”
In short, Black isn’t the destination — he’s the warning sign. And that “something” may connect back to a mystery attack that happened months ago involving Jacob Fatu.
“So they’re putting Aleister with Randy to foreshadow something involving Randy. That’s what I was told. Then that may mean that Randy is the person who attacked Jacob Fatu — and then you can get that match.”
Jacob Fatu was attacked by a mystery assailant back in October 2025, and WWE has yet to officially reveal who was responsible. If Orton ends up being the culprit, the groundwork may already be in place. So instead of a random mid-card feud, this could be a slow-burn setup for Orton vs. Fatu on a major stage.
If Randy Orton is revealed as Jacob Fatu’s attacker, would that be the right direction heading into WrestleMania — or should WWE take the mystery somewhere else? Sound off in the comments.
