R-Truth shocked the world after he made his return during the Money in the Bank Premium Live Event, which came less than a week after he announced he’d be leaving WWE. Following the event, the real reason behind his return has been revealed.

While speaking on the post-Money in the Bank show, Sean Ross Sapp reported that after R-Truth returned to WWE, he asked someone in the company if Truth got a new contract and the person said they would check. He also asked if Truth’s contract ending was just part of a storyline. People close to Truth told him it wasn’t a work, it was real. WWE brought him back after fans got upset and made a lot of noise online.

“Here’s what I can tell you guys as of right now. Immediately following, I just straight up asked WWE, ‘New contract?’ and the person that I asked says, ‘I’ll check.’ And then I asked, ‘Was the original, uh, contract expiration a work?’ I asked that to a number of people, including some of his closest friends, who said, ‘No, it was not a work.’ I’ll read you exactly what they said. They said, ‘It was absolutely not a work. They have just come back due to fan outrage and re-offered.'”

Sapp said no one in WWE, not the wrestlers, not the agents, not the staff, believed this was all part of a planned storyline. Many people had honest and emotional talks with R-Truth during the week.

The person he spoke to also dismissed the online speculation that it was a work, saying the real reason behind WWE’s sudden turnaround was that WWE just didn’t want to look bad in the media because they were getting a lot of negative attention.

“I can tell you guys this: there are no agents, there are no talent, there are no staff that believe this was a work. Many of them had very sincere, emotional conversations with Ron Killings throughout this week. I just said, ‘A lot of people online think it’s a work.’ And this person said, ‘Nope. What it is, is because the powers that be don’t want to look bad in the news.’ They were getting obliterated and they were shook.”

R-Truth made his return in the main event of Money in the Bank and hit a massive spear on John Cena, allowing Cody Rhodes to then plant Cena with a Cross Rhodes for the major win.

As reported earlier, R-Truth’s return came together within the last 72 hours and for now at least, R-Truth will be going as Ron Killings. Now that Truth is back in WWE, we’ll have to see how he will be booked in the coming weeks, as fans are just glad he’s part of the WWE family again.
