Pro wrestling can put a lot of pressure on someone, even Raven. The alternative grunge Superstar also had to do a lot of personal inflection when he had to deal with how his career unfolded.

Raven had a great career in pro wrestling, and some fans considered him as their favorite. Although he made a lot of impressions throughout the years, he never won the big one in WWE. That ate at him for a long time.

While speaking to Ariel Helwani, Raven was asked about anything he regrets in his pro wrestling career. This all circled around the idea that Raven held himself to such a high standard. In fact, that pressure caused him to seek out a therapist to help him handle with the fact that he was never a top name in WWE.

“I spent time on a therapist’s couch, like for the longest time I didn’t think my career was a success, because I wasn’t World Champion of WWE. That’s really ridiculous, because I just held myself to such a high standard, but as my therapist said, ‘you’re the one holding yourself to that standard, and you can let yourself off the hook, too.”

You know, besides, it’s kinda arrogant that you think so highly of yourself that you have to be held to a higher standard.’ That kinda triggered something in me when I realized that you don’t have to hold yourself to a higher standard.”

The former WWE Superstar admitted that those therapeutic conversations took place in the “early 2000s.” However, ideas like “do better” can be very simple, but putting them into practice takes a lot more time. That being said, it took years for him to put that into practice.

Raven went on to say that if someone told him that his career was amazing, he would have thought that they were insane. That was due to the higher standard that he held himself to, and that took a toll on him.

We will have to see what happens with Raven in the future. He could be in line for a WWE Hall of Fame induction, since he’s in the TNA Hall of Fame already, if things work out for him. If anything, he certainly still has a ton of fans who would follow his flock.
