Raquel Rodriguez survived the chaos of the Royal Rumble — but her gear didn’t.
During an appearance on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, the WWE star revealed she experienced a wardrobe malfunction during the Women’s Royal Rumble match, something viewers at home never noticed.
The moment came up after CJ Perry complimented Raquel’s Royal Rumble attire. That’s when Rodriguez admitted the gear wasn’t even new — it was the same outfit she wore during her street fight with Rhea Ripley in Saudi Arabia. She explained she simply didn’t have time to create new gear for the premium live event. Raquel said she felt the design deserved a second run.
“Thank you. Thank you. No, I have to admit, I did fall short because I wore that one with Rhea in our street fight that we had in Saudi the last trip over there. I just didn't have time to make another gear for Royal Rumble, so I just wore the same one, but I thought it was so epic.”
“And I was like, you know what? This kind of gear, we only get to wear once. I said I should at least wear it twice and use it, and thankfully I did.”
Unfortunately, the Royal Rumble turned out to be its final appearance. When asked to clarify, she confirmed the tear happened late in the match but didn’t become visible during the live broadcast.
“It's going to have to be retired now because I did get a hole in the butt at the end of Rumble, which no one saw until the end of Rumble.”
“Yeah. So we got out clean. We were okay.”
Considering the physical nature of the Royal Rumble — with 30 competitors battling inside the ring — it’s not surprising that gear takes a beating. Still, a ripped outfit mid-match could have created a very different headline if cameras had caught the wrong angle. Instead, Raquel escaped without incident, and fans were none the wiser until she told the story herself.
Do you think WWE superstars should always debut fresh gear for major events like the Royal Rumble, or was Raquel right to give that outfit one more run? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
