Randy Orton isn’t just looking ahead—he’s looking back. And there’s one name on his list before either of them calls it a career: John Cena.
In a new interview with Complex, Orton opened up about what’s left on his WWE bucket list, and he didn’t hesitate when the name Cena came up. “
For Cena and all of the history between us, I’d appreciate the opportunity to square off with him at least one more time before he hangs up his sneakers later this year,” Orton said.
With Cena currently booked to face Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 and teasing his retirement, time might be running out for that final chapter between the two legends. Orton and Cena have clashed in nearly every stipulation imaginable—Iron Man, TLC, Hell in a Cell—but it’s been years since they shared the ring. And according to Orton, the story they built is one worth revisiting.
Their last televised singles match came in 2017. Since then, Cena’s gone part-time and Orton dealt with serious back issues that nearly ended his career. But now Orton is back, fully healthy, and under a fresh five-year WWE deal he signed in 2024. And if the stars align, he wants to run it back with the 16-time world champion one final time.
WWE hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but WrestleMania season is known for surprises. Could we see Cena vs. Orton one more time in 2025? Orton’s game if Cena is.
