Randy Orton doesn’t have a match locked in for WrestleMania 41—but don’t think for a second that he’s given up on making a moment.

With Kevin Owens sidelined due to injury, the Viper found himself without an opponent for WWE’s two-night mega event in Las Vegas. But in a new interview with Complex, Orton made it clear he’s still gunning for something—anything—to justify hitting the RKO on the grandest stage of them all.

“I’m staying optimistic and I think that, not to sound like a cocky asshole or anything, but I think that … it’s hard for me to even say this, but I think that the star power that Randy Orton has in the professional wrestling world or bubble or whatever you want to call it,” he said.

“I think that it would be a shame if I wasn’t somehow put in a position where I can at least hit an RKO at WrestleMania.”

Orton admitted that he’s hoping something comes together at the last minute. “My hopes would be that we are able to make some sense of something and get people invested.”

The Apex Predator also spoke about Kevin Owens, expressing how hard the injury news hit him. “My heart breaks for Kevin,” Orton said.

After the announcement that Orton wouldn’t be booked, he took matters into his own hands with a surprise RKO on SmackDown GM Nick Aldis. Call it frustration—or foreshadowing.

WrestleMania 41 kicks off this weekend, and while the card looks stacked, fans are still waiting to see if WWE finds a spot for the 14-time world champion. Orton isn’t just looking for a match—he’s looking for a reason to drop someone with the most dangerous three letters in sports entertainment.
